Ready to breathe in some fresh air in Milan?

Hope to see you there next week? Starting on Monday 17.04, we will be moving our office to Milan for a few days to report to you live from this year’s Salone del Mobile, a.k.a. Milan Design Week. While there we will be seeing how today’s design world is responding to bigger questions.

Questions such as: How does good design foster true individuality? Why do opportunities for innovation arise through networking? What is leadership in the design industry? What do young design professionals need?

A strange thing starts happening every year, no later than March: as the main industry event for innovation, good lifestyle and design development approaches, people begin to casually drop Italian words and phrases into everyday conversation. Colleagues, professionals and creatives suddenly change their tone: sentences begin with ciao and end in a presto. Everyone is looking forward to having their evening aperitivo and exploring the Fiera Milano Rho exhibition halls and all the other shows on display throughout the city: All signs point to Milan Design Week!

Doing research

This year the expectations are sky high. After the pandemic years and somewhat restrained interim events in September 2021 and June 2022, the international furniture and design fair is finally returning in full force this year from April 17 to 23. No doubt with the same level of professionalism the city has always had, offering its guests, exhibitors, galleries, businesses, networkers and newcomers an inspiring environment where they can connect with and enjoy each another for days. Days that open up business opportunities. Days for dreaming, looking, listening and feeling. Days of tired feet and conversations over caffè and aperitivo.

Given that lifestyle and design are part of our core business in communication, we are going to be in Milan next week! Stephanie Ringel Media will be making stops at the following places

  • The Rho Fiera exhibition halls, to experience and evaluate the new exhibition concept firsthand.
  • The House of Switzerland – at the group show on Swiss design work entitled “Urgent Legacy” at Casa degli Artisti, organized by Pro Helvetia, Präsenz Schweiz, Switzerland Global Enterprise and the Swiss Design Association in cooperation with the Bally and Ikea Foundations
  • The Rosanna Orlandi Gallery
  • Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Fendi Casa…
  • And wherever my nose takes me. Because that’s the whole point of being here: to make new discoveries!

Simon Keane-Cowell and his team from DAAily platforms have put together an informative city guide: https://lnkd.in/ehQRYKhj

And the Swiss Design Association shares the knowledge it has amassed here: https://swiss-design-association.ch/news/swiss-design-map-milan-design-weeks-2023

I look forward to seeing the faces of some of the people from my network there!
